The explanation of the quote we were given into every material decision was amazing, and it quickly put us at ease. To make things even better the quote was less then the competitor for superior work and materials. The work was started on time and the work was done promptly. The roof looked great then, and now 3.5 yrs later it still looks new. I couldn’t recommend Prime Seamless enough!

Metal roofing is the single most durable, longest-lasting, and most efficient roofing material on the market.
What was once reserved for barns and cabins is now mainstream in neighborhoods everywhere and it’s easy to see why.
Touting unmatched benefits and an impressive lifespan, metal roofing has more than quadrupled its market share since 2010.
Today, more homeowners are choosing metal roofing than ever before.
Why Are Metal Roofs So Beneficial?
Homeowners across the country are making the decision to invest in metal roofing. While this is one of the most expensive options in the market, there are several reasons why the investment is worth it. They are durable, reliable, beautiful, and they will likely outlast your own lifespan.
- It is Eco-Friendly – Metal roofs are made of recycled material and are 100% recyclable at the end of their life. When you decide to replace the roof, there will be no landfill waste. Additionally, their insulative properties reduce your energy consumption inside the home, making metal panels one of the most eco-friendly materials on the market.
- It Lasts a Minimum of 50 Years – No roofing material in the market will last longer than a metal roof. The impressive lifespan of metal roofing makes the investment a no-brainer for a family home you intend on keeping forever. Metal will last a minimum of 50 years, sometimes closer to 100 years before needing to be replaced.
- Delivers High-Quality Material and Choices of Appearance – Today’s metal roofing is not limited to corrugated panels. With the addition of metal shingles, unique paint colors, textures, and design, you can have a roof that perfectly matches your home’s style.
- It is Cost-Effective – While they are an investment, it will save you money instantly by cutting your utility bills significantly. It also saves costs on homeowners insurance (your rates can drop because metal roofing is impermeable), resale value (because of the longevity of metal), and the elimination of maintenance and future installations.
They Are Both Impact – and Fire-Resistant – A metal roof is indestructible. Metal panels are naturally fire-resistant and won’t be cracked or broken due to ice, wind, rain, or hail. They earn the highest marks at a 140MPH wind rating, sometimes up to 180MPH gusts without budging.
- Receive the Best Energy Efficiency – While asphalt shingles absorb radiant heat, metal is reflective. This makes it easier for your home to maintain a comfortable temperature. In fact, some homeowners will find savings of up to 40% on their energy bills simply by making the switch to metal roofing materials.
- It Will Boost Your Home Value – Homeowners who install metal roofing are usually able to recoup 85% or more of the costs upon resale.
- Your Roof Can Save Money on Homeowners Insurance – Some homeowners may reap insurance rewards for installing a metal roof depending on the insurance company and coverage options.
- Enjoy Low Maintenance – A metal roof requires zero maintenance. While you should keep an eye on it just to be safe – there is no future maintenance required once the roof has been properly installed.
- Expect the Most Extensive Warranties – Because of their notorious lifespan and durability, your roof will come with a manufacturer’s warranty that is typically unmatched by any other material.
Prime Installs Standing Seam Metal Roofs
Prime Seamless specializes in standing seam metal roofs.
This is a series of vertical, interlocking panels that snap together and are installed with clips attached to the substructure.
Our standing seam systems are manufactured from high-end steel or aluminum and typically do not use exposed fasteners during installation.
How Do We Install Standing Seam?
The installation process is fairly simple when completed by a San Antonio metal roofing contractor with proper training and experience.
- Remove the Old One – While technically a metal roof can be installed on top of other materials, we believe the best way to start the project is with a clean slate. We remove all old roofing to ensure a clean and proper installation.
- Inspect the Decking – Another benefit to removing your old roofing materials is to make sure your decking is not compromised. It’s important to inspect the surface to ensure any insecurities or imperfections are corrected.
- Underlayment – This is a layer of synthetic material installed over the decking to provide waterproof protection from heat, ice, and any moisture that may find its way underneath the metal panels.
- Metal Panels – Once the surface is prepared, the panels are installed on the lock strips one at a time, interlocking each one. The seams are placed 12 to 24 inches apart, and the bottom of the panel is cut off to create a cohesive edge.
- Inspection – After the installation is completed, each element is carefully inspected by an Austin roofing contractor to ensure a perfect fit every time.
Materials We Use For Metal Roofs
There are three main materials we recommend using for standing seam metal roofing.
These three metals provide the best in durability, longevity, and appearance.
- 24 Gauge Painted Steel – The most common gauges for metal roofing are 29, 26, 24, and 22 gauge. Low-end agricultural jobs will use a 26 or 29 gauge, while homeowners will use a 24-gauge. Standing seam metal roofing is typically only available in 24 gauge as it is the most durable steel.
- Galvalume Steel – Galvalume is a combination of steel, aluminum, and zinc. This allows you to use one material that has some of the best characteristics of each metal, which is why it’s become one of the most popular materials in today’s market.
- Copper – Many homeowners love copper sheets because of their unique appearance and curb appeal. Copper is also one of the strongest materials in the market and is highly resistant to damage like scratches, nicks, and blemishes. Copper has been known to last for hundreds of years.
What Determines a Roof’s Installation Cost?
We provide a full estimate to each customer, including a computer-generated image of your new roof with customized color and style options.
As part of our estimate, you’ll see a breakdown of the six main areas that contribute to the cost of your new metal roof:
- Size, Pitch, and Slope – The specific size and angles of your roof matter. These factors are all calculated to determine both the cost of labor and the amount of materials required.
- Labor Cost for New Installation – Generally, labor is the largest portion of your cost. Installing a metal roof requires specialized professionals, which can be anywhere from $3 to $12 per square foot, depending on your state.
- Material Costs – The type of metal and underlayment used makes a big difference in your overall cost of roofing. The price ranges quite drastically from $1.60 for Galvalume to $22.50 for copper. Generally, the heavier the metal, the more expensive the job.
- Painting Cost – If you choose, your metal roof can be painted to complement the exterior of your home. Adding paint may add $1,500 to $2,000 to the overall cost of your metal roof installation.
- Removing Existing Roof – This is always part of your roof replacement cost. We always recommend removing existing materials to ensure proper installation.
- Accessibility – Remote, mountainous, or difficult-to-access areas may cost more due to the travel time or equipment required.
